Hi everyone,
This Sunday I will not be at Faithful Fools, though I will be there on August 6 from 3-5 pm for the regular program.
Instead, I will be in LA at the Buddhist Gathering of Friends (aka the Empty District aka Fifth Wave Meeting aka Whattyamacallit Meeting) at Bill and Jean Ankers in Granada Hills. The meeting will be on Sunday at 10 am. The plan is to do a combined gongyo/loving-kindness Shodaigyo and then to discuss the role of the Brahmaviharas (Divine Abodes) of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity in our practice.

In thinking about the irresponsible and hateful rhetoric of syndicated columnist Ann Coulter it occured to me that she should watch and ponder the movie The Fisher King. I saw it a year or so ago, and though it probably had Howard Stern in mind I think it applies to Ann and her ilk even more. Here is the amazon page for The Fisher King:
