This Sunday I will be at the Buddhist Gathering of Friends in LA

Hi everyone,

This Sunday I will not be at Faithful Fools, though I will be there on August 6 from 3-5 pm for the regular program.

Instead, I will be in LA at the Buddhist Gathering of Friends (aka the Empty District aka Fifth Wave Meeting aka Whattyamacallit Meeting) at Bill and Jean Ankers in Granada Hills. The meeting will be on Sunday at 10 am. The plan is to do a combined gongyo/loving-kindness Shodaigyo and then to discuss the role of the Brahmaviharas (Divine Abodes) of loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity in our practice.

Wish I could go - these sound like very interesting meetings. I'm not sure if this suggestion is appropriate, but the Buddha Seed booklet from NBIC has been something that many folks have been finding of use/value here in our neck of the woods.

Will I be seeing you in Portland next month for the Portland Temple's 75th anniversary (and the NONA meeting, of course)?

Hi Engyo,

Thanks for the tip about the Buddha Seed booklet. I don't know if I have time to go to NBIC to check it out before I leave, but I will check it out when I can.

And yes, I will be in Portland in August. I look forward to seeing everyone there.
