If you subscribe to the theories of quantum physics, then it's understandable that I exist much of my time in this place as well as my life at home in the US.
The little houses throughout the temple grounds, and you're looking only at my favorite spot there, is "kamidana" or houses for the unseen spirits.
Nope, never seen one. I'm sure they're there though.

This is going around now. You might as well know the truth. Is it cool to be a nerd? You tell me....
In defense of myself, I held a 4.0 GPA throughout college. The fact remains that I lost interest in computers after trying to complete an online course in BASIC. I grew disinterested quickly. I had friends who immediately fell in love with computer programing in the mid-70's, and whom I immediately lost contact with. We could have stayed friends, I just never saw them again. I needed a computer language for my school requirements. I had someone else complete the assignments for me.
While my entire corporate career was in, and with computers, I learned and mastered only what I needed. I was an early datacommunications engineer, back in the early 80's when the field was new. I can still recite all the pins of the RS-232 connector. Hooking up computers was interesting. Programing them was not - for me. I owned and studied James Martin's "Telecommunciations and the Computer" (the first edition) but truthfully datacomm was never "nerd cool", just like telephony wasn't nerdy, but was cool.
I do not dive with a dive computer, rather I use the dive tables and a military compass board. Dive computers are generally considered reliable, but when it comes to my survival in the water the only thing I trust is my ability to think clearly and not panic.
I dive alone.

Postscript;
Why did I score so high this time?
Well, I'll tell you, and you're not going to like the answer. The first time I took the test I made no attempt to look anything up, and answered right off of the top of my head. Fact is, I own both a telescope AND a microscope but sincerely didn't remember the night I took the test the first time. Other questions I lied on knowing how nerds think.
In addition, I looked up the periodic table questions on google because I know about nerd psyche, having known many nerds and high IQ folk. The reality is they, as a community, all have giant chips on their shoulders and would NEVER admit to not knowing something, rather looking it up to get the best score possible.
Tests are bullshit. Always have been, always will be. IQ is an illusion. The ultimate test is life itself. Here is an example;

While still working for Sun I came across this question printed out on someone's desk. I stole it and copied it, and returned it. Within 5 minutes after I read it I knew the answer. I have never had my answer verified, but I knew.
Post your answer to this question here and we will compare....
