Mandala #039

This Original Nichiren Mandala Gohonzon is dated 建治2年8 月 13日 -- August 13 1276, the same as mandala #038. The conferral is also similar:

亀弥護也

The last two kanji 護也 could mean -- to protect; for protection of.

One source gives the present location as 大阪 [Osaka] 某個人[Private Possession?]

Another has: 永 岡 家

I guess that you mean the Board Mandala? I have on idea what the origin of that one might be. There are several theories. Right now, I am dealing with authenticated Nichiren paper {and silk} Mandalas that still exist in his handwriting. There are 128
of these, which are published, and three I know of that are unpublished. There are also quite a few {1000 or more?} that "might be" Nichiren originals.

Engraved board mandalas are an entirely different genre. One can not authenticate the handwriting on those. The process of dating those is completely different.

There are a number of Statues and Board Mandalas attributed to Nippo Shonin. I do not know that it is possible to authenticate them, some have benm roughly dated to the Late Kamakura Era.

As far as I know, there has been no public effort
to determine the origins of Taisekiji's board Mandala.

If this is an original then what about the huge one at tasekiji?
