Statues, Drawings, & Paintings of Nichiren
楡原・上行寺蔵 Kept at Nirebara Jogyoji Temple
The Jogyo-ji photo is rather similar to the Mizukagami Portrait; with the extended sutra scroll held in both hands. The table in front of him, with the rolled up scrolls, is smaller. There is a brightly colored cloth on the table. Here is the Mizukagami Portrait, the original of which is kept at Nakayama:
Edit: Here is black and white version of the same Jogyoji portrait.

Hi Julie, Sorry, both are the same image. I was not clear on that.

The story also kind of answered a question for me. About 20 years ago, I saw a picture in a Chinese Literature magazine, in it there was an old man wearing a long robe (probably in Qing Dynasty or early 20th century), and next to him a huge scroll (about 10 feet long) writing "Namu-Myoho-Renge-Kyo". I always wondered how did he know about "Namu-Myoho-Renge-Kyo"; Tien-Tai didn't teach "Namu-Myoho-Renge-Kyo" in China. Now I know maybe it was Nichiji Shonin.
Thank you again.
Julie
I think these two portraits are identical, except that one is in color, another b/w.
