"Socrates...said that there is no greater misfortune for a human being than
having an aversion to debate..." -- Daisaku Ikeda
In light of these words by the leader of the Soka Gakkai, I renew my call for a formal debate with a senior representative of SGI USA. I propose the following topics for the debate:
1). The identity and significance of the Original Eternal Buddha
2.) The nature of the Master/Disciple relationship in Nichiren Buddhism
3.) The significance of the Gohonzon
4.) The significance of the Lotus Sutra (Myoho renge kyo).
5.) The true meaning of the Votary of the Lotus Sutra.
6.) The true meaning of the Nichiren Faith
7.) Shakabuku versus Shoju in the Degenerate Age
Posted by markrogow at January 29, 2010 03:57 PMWere we discussing me or SGI's unwillingness to debate? Should I enter into Noble Silence mode when dealing with you? This is my conundrum.
Talking about silence, I never want you to shut up. You are my and the Kempon Hokke's best friend.
Posted by: Mark Rogow at January 30, 2010 02:45 AMWhat do you mean silence, like just because they beat you you would ever shut up, of course you know no matter what you would win because you are a follower of Nichiren and the Lotus Sutra while they are liars and theives, but if through some trick of the devil they won, well I'm sure you would say it didn't count and you'd go on for a couple of dacades about how you were robbed etc.
Posted by: clown hidden at January 29, 2010 11:23 PMD. Ikeda's words for his disciples are not conditioned on the status of a particular individual or group. They should be willing to debate both a demon and an emperor to reveal the truth of their teachings.
Monte Joffee excoriates the Nichiren Shoshu priests on his website for not debating the SGI. Since Mr Joffee is so eager to debate, I offer him, his son, or any representative of the SGI, the opportunity of defending the righteousness of their teachings. One might suppose that they would wish to silence one of their most vocal critics, a nobody though I might be.
Posted by: Mark Rogow at January 29, 2010 07:32 PMWhy in the world would they debate you, a nobody, what is in it for them?
Not that anyone could lose in a debate with you I mean you would lose a debate with no opponent. But beating you brings nothing to anybody. I once again predict they will not debate you. Am I a prophet or just a faithful believer?
