Appropriating the Lotus Sutra to further Ikedaism or the Value Creation philosophy of Beauty, Goodness, and GAIN is to put the lipstick of the Lotus Sutra on the pig of the SGI. Do not be fooled by their Machiavellian appropropriation of the Lotus Sutra. They have forgotten the life of Nichiren Daishonin, the Supreme Votary of the Lotus Sutra without whom, the Lotus Sutra would be no more than a fanciful story of the Eternal Buddha rather than the living breathing Buddha itself. Nichiren Daishonin proved the validity of he Lotus Sutra by overcoming every persecution and exile while advocating the exclusive faith and practice of the Sutra and remonstrating with authorities. The SGI is the snake hiding in the beautiful flowerbed. Do not be fooled. Do not be fooled.
