Lets say there is a medical manufacturing and supply company that is failing becuase of its location, business plan, product, or whatever. The owner is a less than ethical individual but is extremely clever and comes upon a brilliant but shady idea. He claims a new type of herbal treatment that cures breast cancer but its formula is really not much different than another truly effective treatment made from the bark of the African chinchona tree. The problem is, this man's herbal treatement also contains a cancer accelerant and is missing the essential cancer retarding agent found in the original. The owner knows that breast cancer victims are desperate and the beneficial extract is very expensive. He also knows that, despite the great claims he is making, the people and governmental agencies still require expert testimony as to its effectiveness, especially since the owner is neither well received in the business community nor well respected in the scientific community. Knowing that the formula for his product is not too dissimilar to the effective formula, he does a library search of the historical records. But he can not find anything to validate his claims by the research pioneers. He then gets the brilliant idea to buy the rights to several, as yet, unpublished works of the research pioneers but only those who are already deceased. He contacts the estate of these men hoping for exclusive rights to these manuscripts and offers the relatives alot of money. They agree. He then goes on to change a word here and a word there, adding and subtracting a formula here and a formula there. Then he releases all this forged and altered documentation thus deceiving the people and leaving them prostrate on the ground. He is like those evil men who sold super refined motor oil as olive oil in spain, killing hundreds of people, or the Priests of Nichiren Shoshu who altered and forged the documents of Nikko and Nichiren.
