If you are a new to the practice, you have to be doing the Essential Services of the Kempon Hokke every day. You have to talk to Rev. Tsuchiya and then sign a pledge to never forsake the Gohonzon, the Lotus Sutra, the Eternal Buddha Shakyamuni and to uphold the tenets of Nichiren and Nichiju.
If you are SGI, NST, or HBS you have to first roll up your SGI, NST, or HBS Gohonzon and put it in your desk, sock drawer, or glove compartment.., on second thought, not in your glove compartment if you plan to drive alot (its a joke). Then you have to be doing the above as for the new member and you can send the Gohonzon to Rev. Tsuchiya for respectful disposal.
If you are Nichiren Shu you may return your Gohonzon to have the Eye Opening Ceremony performed by Rev. Tsuchiya while proceding as per the new member above.
