What To Wear?

What do you wear to a 16th century gongyo as a warrior for Kosen-rufu?

Don't forget to pack your travel altar when pilgrimaging from Kamakura to Mt. Minobu.

LOL, that is classic! I wish I had enough money to buy one of those.

The helmet is $10K. I found another one, cool but not as cool, for about $4K. Nichiren in a box is cheap at $500.

I once spent a night guarding a bunch of midieval japanese armor at the U.N. But I find it hard to believe that the daimoku wasn't photoshopped onto that helmet. It's real?

I've added the other shots. It's an antique gallery in Japan with a big rep so I doubt it's a scam as they are for sale along with a ton of samurai armor and artwork. I've been emailing the dealer. Seriously, if I had the bucks, I'd be leading daimoku wearing one of the helmets at our next discussion meeting. Then we'd really have something to talk about, neh?

It would be interesting to know the history of these helmets. Who wore them, and why?

That's the premise of "The Red Violin": what's your story?

Please make the photos larger, they are too hard to see...
