All Hail Pomona, Hail!

Well, I won't be posting again until Sunday (at least). Tomorrow, I have a court appearance on behalf of a family member, and then Saturday, I am going to my (fanfare, please) 30th college reunion at fabulous Pomona College in even more fabulous Claremont, California!!!!

Ay-yi-yi!!!

I'm kind of jittery about the whole thing. I've gained a few pounds since I graduated back in '78. Well.....several pounds. OK, I've gained a lot of weight. When I think of the clothes I used to (not) wear back then, it makes me a bit nervous. I wonder if they'll recognize me without my navel showing?

But look on the bright side - I can finally find out what Ada Rose Bitterbaum has been up to all these years.

Have any of you old folks been through this one already? Tell me something comforting, please.....

I'll get back to Buddhism next week after the acid hit wears off.....

Bye for now,

Byrdie in the Sky with Diamonds.

Byrd,

I went to my 20th HS reunion... twenty years ago! It was actually kind of fun. Of course, I wasn't too fat, then (like I am now). At that time I had the receding hair-in-a-ponytail-gray-streaked-beard-Sean-Connery look going, so I did well. It was fun to find out that my high school love has since become (discovered that she is?) lesbian. She and I had a great time laughing about that, and her partner was a hoot, as well. (No, no group sex ensued, sorry.)

The head Majorette, Christine McCallister, seven children later (gotta love those Mormons), looked exactly the same, maybe cracking 110 pounds. My best friend, Peter, looked like the Mayor of Munchkinland.

I dunno if there is going to be a 40th this year. Now I'm buzz-cut-white-hair-bald with all white beard, about 35 pounds overweight, and not feeling too sexy at all. But so what? I imagine most of those folks are in the same boat.

Go for it, and have a great time! Let us know what Ada has been doing.

Cheers!

Andy

Hi Byrd,

My 40-year HS reunion should be coming up in 2 years. The folks who threw the 30th swore they'd never do another one, so I don't know if the 40th is actually going to happen.

At the 30th, I saw my first boyfriend and his wife of the first time since graduation, and boy had he changed. He was bald with a beer belly and looked exactly like his father, our HS science teacher. He and his wife had had 7 children. Boy, was I glad that wasn't me! And proud of my incredibly handsome Sarge.

PS - Have fun, Byrd!

Byrd, Seeing you at Pomona College was the highlight of my fabulous weekend in southern California. I only regret that I didn't spontaneously greet you as "Wennnndy." I'll be in touch, hon', when I get through my email and stuff... the good stuff.
